  • ALL INVITED – ‘WE ARE COMMUNITY’: 5-6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 28 STEAM Learning Center.  Called “Caring Supports For Students, Families and Community,” the entire community is invited!  Please see flyer attached.  It’s very casual affair to help connect families with valuable community partners that provide food supports, health and dental care, after-school and summer programs, and lots more.  We’re especially excited to welcome The Food Basket to give away free bags of food (while supplies last)!  AARP volunteers will schedule appointments for free tax preparation. And there will be light snacks.  No RSVP, just come!

  • 8th Grade Ho'ike - Thurs., March 7, 5-6:30 p.m. STEAM Learning Center - 2nd Floor.  All WMS families Invited.  All families invited to this celebration of learning!  All 8th grade students will present what they've learned as a team working on one of 23 projects!  It's as much about "skills they'll use through life" -- collaboration, creativity, communication, critical thinking, compromise -- as it is about US history.  Please join us.  Lots of parking near the STEAM Learning Center - please do not park/drive on the field.  Light snacks provided.  Also, will include drawing for Instant Pots for families of students w/ 100% Attendance (one per grade level).  Click here for more details.

  • 8th Grade Humanities Ho'ike March 7, 2019 - What A Fabulous Celebration of Learning! A huge mahalo to all of the families that joined us last evening for the 8th grade classesʻ showcase of learning!  All 8th grade students presented what they've learned as a team working on one of 23 projects -- demonstrating "skills they'll use through life" -- collaboration, creativity, communication, critical thinking, compromise -- as well as about important periods in US history.  MAHALO too, to our dedicated teacher team who pulled this together, and to the staff and community friends who jumped in to help.  But above all - CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR STUDENTS for great work!  You made us very proud!    Please watch Facebook for many event pictures!

West Hawaii Today 8-27-18: WMS seventh graders learn how to take care of the land - Read about an exciting cross-curriculum learning experience for our WMS students!  MAHALO to our 7th grade teacher team and project partners.  Their student-researched oral history book featuring 11 revered Waimea resource people who range in age from 29 to 86 is now available on Amazon! Mahalo, too, to WHT/NHN' Editor Landry Fuller and writer Jan Wizinowich!

This Friends of Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge June 2018 Newsletter see (pages 4-10) spotlights Waimea Middle School students participating in the TEACHING CHANGE partnership.  Three groups of WMS students, two w/ 7th graders, one w/ 6th graders, participated in these overnight environmental learning experiences.
