Nondiscrimination and Title IX

Waimea Middle Public Conversion Charter School (WMPCCS) does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, and religion in any education program or activity that it operates, as required by Title IX and its regulations, including admissions and employment.  Inquiries about Title IX may be referred to the Title IX Coordinator, Principal Janice English, the U.S. Department of Educationʻs Office for Civil Rights or both.  WMPCCS' nondiscrimination policy and grievance procedures are located at https://www.wmpccs.org/about/privacy-rights-nondiscrimination. To report information about and conduct that may constitute sex discrimination or make a complaint of sex discrimination under Title IX, please use the link below.

WMPCCS does not tolerate acts of harassment on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, and religion. Any student who believes that he or she has been subjected to harassment on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, and religion is encouraged to report such harassment. Students and parents may report allegations of discrimination or harassment to the school's administrator or to the Hawai‘i  DOE Department's Civil Rights Compliance Branch.

WMPCCS is committed to conducting prompt investigations. Support, including counseling and educational resources, will be available to students who are harassed as well as to students found to have engaged in acts of harassment on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, and religion. Students found to have engaged in harassment may be disciplined up to and including suspension if circumstances warrant. Students, parents, and Department staff should work together to prevent harassment on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, and religion.

WMPCCS will not tolerate retaliation for reporting discrimination and/or harassment on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, and religion, and will take steps to protect those who wish to report the discrimination or harassment.

State of Hawai'i and U.S. Department of Education Complaints Procedure

There are two levels of complaints:

1) The first level if for school-level complaints that should go directly to school.  To learn more about the school-level complaint procedure, please go to  Ho‛okāko‛o Corporation (HC) website Policies and Procedures webpage and click on the link for the ADM04 - Complaints Procedure PDF.

2) The second level is for complaints against the State.  The form used in this complaint procedure goes directly to the U.S. Department of Education - Office for Civil Rights (OCR) .The OCR is not for daily complaints. Link to OCR Complaint Forms - Electronic and PDF Versions .
